our vision
"to
embrace the world into a community of believers in love with Christ"
:: our
mission
"to
empower the community of believers...."

By Genuine and Sincere Fellowship:
People are convicted not only by our acts of worshipping God, but our acts
of fellowship with others as well. Unbelievers are appalled and
turned-off mostly by the acts of hypocrisy demonstrated by the believers.
No wonder why hypocrisy is the number one reason for people rejecting
Christianity. However, when we can demonstrate and exemplify our lives in
the way that we genuinely and sincerely fellowship with each other it
attracts people to us, because everyone is searching for meaningful
relationships. Jesus continues in Matthew 22:39, “And the second is
like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” When we can become a body
of believers that can genuinely and sincerely fellowship with each other,
it will be irresistible to a world full of people living in façade.
::
By Transforming Discipleship:
Our effort in missions does not end with sharing the Gospel. Often times
in ministry and even evangelistic outreaches, we fail to disciple people
to become Christ-like. And this indispensable quality of Christ-likeness
is grounded in Christ-centeredness. Discipleship is therefore
indispensable. We are called to follow Christ by daily taking up our own
cross, and this call is not easy especially in a world of self-absorbed
people. Jesus commands us not only “to go,” but also to “make
disciples (Matthew 28:19).” Our church must be involved heavily in
this endeavor. If not, we are jeopardizing the efforts of missions and
the future of the church.

Selfless Acts of Ministry: It
is very easy to be tricked into thinking that our needs and our agenda
must come first. Society endorses such ambitious and self-promoting
aspirations. After all, we have to look out for number one…. I love the
way that Jesus renounces the worldly philosophy. He stated, “….
Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever
wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not
come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for
many. (Mark 10:45)” We must realize that it is not in being served
that we will find significance, but rather in the act of serving that we
will. When this selfless act of ministry becomes contagious in our
church, we can become a community that will empower people to live a
Christ-centered life.

Effective Mission Efforts:
Building God’s community begins with the common goal of having Christ at
the center of our lives. If we have Christ as our Lord, we can not ignore
his Great Commission (“Therefore, go and make disciples of all
nations….” Matthew 28:18-20). Our effort to reach out must not only
extend to our local communities, but national and global communities as
well. There must be a balance in this ambition through local outreach as
well as evangelistic efforts nationally and globally. Moreover, we must
be sensitive to not only Korean-Americans, but other ethnic groups as
well. Not that we should be so focused on being “multi-ethnic” in our
outreach, but we should have as our main goal for our local church to
reach out to our community, and if it includes other ethnic backgrounds,
we should seek to serve that community with sensitivity.

By Honest Worship:
In order to impact the world so that they may find meaning of life, we
must demonstrate to them our sincere act of worship, because we are
created for worship. Jesus summarized the commandments when he said,
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your mind. (Matthew 22:37)” Also, John 4:23 tells us,
“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will
worship the Father in spirit and truth….” When we are passionately
engaged in honest worship of our God, I believe it speaks volumes to the
testimony of our lives as Christians and it becomes attractive for others
to see.
